Important H&S Bulletin

Members are reminded of the importance of securing the load on any vehicle before it drives off down a public highway. Accidents caused by unsecure loads can lead to deaths, injuries & huge compensation claims against employers and personal claims against drivers. The picture here is a classic example of this; showing a vehicle carrying equipment driving down a Surrey road with the rear doors open. An accident waiting to happen? Thankfully our members are better trained than this.

FBUSurrey is currently in dispute with SF&RS over the application of both their Discipline & Grievance procedures. We currently have no confidence in the service to honor the Grey Book procedure on Grievances, the most basic employment right; to have a grievance heard and heard fairly. Recently the service has refused to hear grievances altogether which renders the Grievance procedure useless. Until further notice members, members may want to consider making complaints to EXPOLINK who are an external company which Surrey County Council contracts to handle confidential complaints.
